The Apartment

Accommodation available at Grallagh House

Bramwell – a two storey self catering apartment retaining all the features and charm of the original stone hayloft outbuilding. On the ground floor a spacious open plan kitchen, dining and sitting area from which the stairs lead to the living and sleeping accommodation.

In the kitchen and small hall the cupboards are constructed from reclaimed materials and house modern electrical appliances and extraction. Solid wood worktops and a Belfast sink compliment the original shelves and quarry tiled floor.

The small hall leads to a ‘wet room’ again embracing reclaimed materials and sanitary ware, with a large chromed shower head.
Up the dog-leg stairs to the ‘hayloft’, passing evidence of a simple industrial past with a pulley wheel still in the wall, you enter the main room. This space is divided into suggested areas with small separating walls. In this simple sitting area over looking the stairs, through a picture window into the yard, you are facing the studios opposite. Beside this the double bed nestles below the original beams and the slope of the ceiling to create a cosy environment. To the rear of the space, on either side is hidden an integrated wardrobe, between which a sofa-bed is placed.

As with the studios spaces the apartment is constructed with deep Mourne granite walls with the addition of modern improvements. Double glazed windows, ceiling & floor insulation and central heating create a comfortable environment. The views from the windows on three sides, look over the garden and terrace, through miles of lush agricultural land to the neighboring village of ‘Rathfriland on the hill’ with a spectacular backdrop of the Mourne Mountains.
